Background to the investigation

The Economic Research Institute of Northern Ireland (ERINI) has been commissioned by the Department of Finance and Personnel (DFP) to undertake an investigation into the case for a small business rate relief scheme in Northern Ireland.

In broad terms, the aim of the investigation is to consider the rationale for a SBRR scheme, to examine the evidence on the potential impacts and incidence of a scheme, and make recommendations on the way forward
