Although the energy markets in Northern Ireland are quite small on an international scale they are particularly complex, especially when viewed in the context of all-island energy networks.  ERINI wishes to develop an energy research capability to supplement the analysis provided by the regulatory bodies and government departments.  However, our resources are modest so this will be a longer-term development programme for the Institute.

We propose a modest introduction to energy research, focusing on developing links with the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) in Dublin on the all-island energy markets.  If the opportunity presents itself we will also bid in conjunction with ESRI for contracted work in this area that can provide an additional source of resources.
